Managing Storage Capacity Begins with Managing Power Users

Did you hear the news?

microsoft-logo-png-transparent-20Microsoft has announced that it is ending its promise of delivering unlimited storage capacity without additional storage cost.  The news comes just a year after Office 365 subscribers were told they would be upgraded to “unlimited” OneDrive cloud storage plans.

  • Why was the unlimited storage offer rescinded?
Microsoft cites that a few “greedy” customers abused the program to stockpile entire collections.  In some instances, storage volumes exceeded 75TB per user, or about 14,000 times more than the average storage capacity.
  • Why is this news important?
This announcement highlights that “unlimited” storage is not always what it seems. Many users may be experiencing the same thing without even realizing it.
  • How can you optimize your storage capacity?
The key to managing your storage capacity begins with understanding your power users.  After all, when you manage your large file users, you can improve your overall storage environment.
