(NYSE: ARW) today announced an exclusive North American and EMEA distribution agreement with NEC Europe and NTP Software for the E-Tiering Cloud Appliance (ETCA), a cost-effective, single-appliance-solution for tiering and storing inactive file data.

NEC’s ETCA is built on NetApp’s E-Series storage system and based on NTP Software’s VFM™ technology. It automatically handles file movement, compliance and other policy-based activities. The ETCA can be the first stop on the road to the cloud or a complete solution in and of itself. NEC reports that the addition of a tier-two appliance like the ETCA can save an organization 66 percent or more of ongoing file data costs because stale files have different and less costly imperatives than active files.
